MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD WORKSHOPS: The V&A Museum of Childhood offers free entry and appeals to children of all ages (adults included) with its look back at times and toys past. This week, it also offers a chance for kids to make their own dragon or unicorn puppets for just £5. Free (museum entry), prebook workshops, 10am-5.45pm (check website for workshop times)

UNWINDING: The RAF Museum presents Unwinding, an exhibition focussing on the off-duty pursuits enjoyed by Britain's RAF personnel in the first world war. It's a fascinating peep behind the frontline revealing how our airmen coped with the stress of active service. Free, just turn up, 10am-6pm, until 17 February 2017

GEFFRYE MUSEUM: It's usually closed on Mondays, but this week take advantage of the Bank Holiday and visit the Geffrye Museum any day you fancy. This Dalston step-back-in-time features 11 period rooms plus a period herb garden and provides an amazing insight into a past London. Free, just turn up, 10am-5pm

Monday 28 March

FIND YOUR LONDON: It's your last chance to take part in Find Your London Festival and the final day is packed with events across the city. Today, head to Cricklewood Spring 3 for free Easter activities on the lush Millennium Green. You could also take part in an out-of-the-ordinary workout at City Is My Playground or take the Easter Poetry Trail and win free goodies. Many free events, see website for details. UKULELE HOOTENANY: If George Formby did Bank Holidays, they'd probably sound just like this. Grab your uke (or rent one there for free) to jam away to old classics, modern hits and plink away to your heart's content. Beginners and the uke-curious welcome at the Queen Of Hoxton. FILM FOR A FIVER: See psychological drama A Bigger Splash, starring Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes, at JW3. Desire, jealousy and rock 'n' roll — all in one movie. £5, prebook, 2.30pm

FREE DANCE: However you swing, do it for free this Tuesday at Swing Patrol's class at Walkabout Temple. Learn the basics of swing dance as you tear up the floor. Beginners are welcome and you don't even need to bring a partner. Free, just turn up, 7pm

SUPERHERO CRAFT: Yep, not two words that normally go together... but tonight at Hackney Attic you can indulge your passion for all things crafty: design and make your own heroes, concoct a collage or knit yourself some superhero accessories. Free, just turn up, 7.30pm

DUKE MITCHELL FILM CLUB: Celebrating the 100th event of the Duke Mitchell Film Club, get yourself down to the Phoenix Artist Club for their Early April Fool's Special. It's an annual salute to the worst film offerings in history, so be prepared for hammy acting, improbable plots and cinematic crimes. Free, just turn up, 7pm

COMEDY: Take a trip to the Betsey Trotwood for new material from Alison Thea-Scott, Emma Sidi and Spencer Jones as they test out their hilarious Edinburgh offerings on you. Hilarity guaranteed, these guys regularly receive excellent reviews. Free, just turn up, 7.45pm

Thursday 31 March

EXPLORE SOUTH LONDON: Start at Blue Anchor Library and discover the secrets of Bermondsey, the former factory area responsible for many of Britain's favourite brands. Find a new side to South London on this informal and informative walking tour. Free, just turn up, 11am

HISTORICAL FICTION EVENT: Lydia Syson, author of three highly acclaimed young adult novels set in times past including the Spanish Civil War and the Battle of Britain, discusses the challenges of writing history in conversation with Meirian Jump at Marx Memorial Library. £3, just turn up, 7pm

COMEDY: Dogstar Brixton presents Battle Acts — an evening of improvised comedy that sweeps up awards and regularly claims five star reviews. Described as "no holds barred" and a "smackdown", you should probably be prepared for some comic carnage at this night. £5, just turn up, 8pm

QUIZZICAL: Let's Get Quizzical's the name of the challenging game at Drink Shop Do. No ordinary quiz, expect a craft round, musical mysteries and other unorthodox entertainments. Friday 1 April

FASHION IN MOTION: The V&A celebrates British fashion designer Christopher Raeburn's unique and innovative approach to design with Fashion in Motion. This special event will showcase some key pieces from his menswear, womenswear and accessories lines. Free, prebook, 1pm/3pm/5pm/8pm

RECORD SHOWCASE: One of London's freshest independent record labels, NX Records, presents some of its strongest emerging artists at this Southbank Centre showcase. Hear a selection of the best new music for free this Friday. Free, just turn up, 5.30pm

ELECTION QUESTION TIME: Got questions about the London elections? Here's your chance to put them to some of the high profile candidates hoping for seats on the London Assembly. Head to Conway Hall this Friday to quiz representatives from Conversative, Labour and UKIP. Free, prebook, 7.30pm

MALTBY MARKET: More secret than its neighbour in Borough, Maltby Street Market offers a chilled alternative packed with local produce. Stand out stalls include Brick Lane chocolatiers Dark Sugars, Waffle On and The Cheese Truck. Free, just turn up, 9am-4pm, also on Sundays (11am-4pm)

VAUXHALL CITY FARM: With a baa here and a squawk there, Vauxhall has a city farm packed with all types of cute critters to meet. It's also probably the only farm in the world with pigs called Jedward (Jenny and Edward). Free, just turn up, 10.30am-4pm

MIND THE GAP: The Museum of London Docklands invites you to help them recreate the London Underground, complete with tracks, tunnels and trains. Turn engineer and get stuck into constructing a replica of the world's oldest underground railway. Free, just turn up, 12pm/2.30pm

CLAPHAM CLUB NIGHT: As Peggy Lee sang, you can have "fever all through the night" at this club night at The London Grand. Fever's a new Saturday party packed with hip-hop, R&B, house — and everything in between. Dance though to the small hours in this ex-music hall, established in 1900. £5 (before 11pm with guest list sign up), prebook, 10pm-3am

Sunday 3 April

VICTORIAN SCHOOL: Experience life in a Victorian classroom at the Ragged School Museum open house this Sunday. Pupils of all ages will be grilled by a schoolmarm in full Victorian costume. It's also a chance to take in this unusual museum housed in the original buildings. Free (£2 for school lesson), just turn up, 2pm-5pm (lesson is 45 minutes long)

£1 COMEDY: That works out at less than a penny a laugh (probably). Make Sunday nights loads funnier with four fabulous comedians at Top Secret Comedy Club. Alistair Williams, Jack Barry, Rory O'Hanlon and Suzy Bennett spoil you with stage antics. £1, prebook, 8pm

CLUB NIGHT: Broken beat pioneer (and vinyl junkie from the age of five), Daz-I-Kue hops across from Atlanta to bring his brand of soulful sound to The Book Club tonight. Free/£5, just turn up, 7pm-12am
