Serpentine New Year's Day 3k Fun Run

Everyone can manage a 3k Fun Run, even if you've spent the last two weeks lolling on the sofa watching Gavin and Stacey re-runs. If you're feeling particularly energetic on the first day of 2016, you can always opt for the 10k race instead.

VeloPark Mince Pies Revenge Duathlon

Head to the brilliant closed-road circuit around the Olympic velodrome in Stratford for this run-bike-run challenge, guaranteed to burn off some of your extra winter weight. The event — a two-mile (two lap) run then a 10-mile (10 lap) cycle finishing with a one mile (one lap) run — is suitable for beginners as well as experienced duathletes.
