BossLady: Hong Kong-Style Beef Brisket Noodles In Peckham
Beefy, beefy noodle.

A new noodle pop-up, BossLady London will be taking over the Forza Win space in Peckham for seven Sundays, starting 9 August. They will be serving ngau lam mein (牛腩麵), or beef brisket noodles, a dish which is, in their words, "a humble, hearty yet surprisingly complex dish adored by Hong Kongers from all walks of life." They also claim that it is "a killer hangover cure." This hearty bowl of fun consists of a clear, crisp broth, slices of beef brisket and chunks of daikon radish which suck up all the delicious meaty juices and become just about the tastiest vegetable on the planet. There are noodles (saang mein) too, of course. There will extra toppings available on the tables so you can customise your soup, plus sides including choi sum and 'fish scratchings' - battered and deep fried fish skin. Wash it all down with a Tsingtao beer or lemon tea.

Henry Chung, the brainchild behind the operation, has just spent three months in the kitchens of one of Taipo's most loved providers of the dish — Choi Yun Gei. Now he's back, armed with the knowledge and skill to bring the most authentic version of the dish to London's restaurant scene. He's learned the stock, noodle making and all sorts of other traditional methods, so he can serve them up for the enjoyment of those who miss home, people who want to try something new or those who just love a great bowl of noodles. At just £8 per ticket, we're struggling to think of a reason not to go.
