Spend The Night On A London Houseboat

Imagine falling asleep, rocked by the movement of the water beneath your berth. Feeling seasick? Then these are not for you. But if the novelty of staying the night on London's river and canals floats your boat, check out these waterborne homes available on Airbnb.
Chelsea houseboat
This houseboat, moored on pretty Cheyne Walk at Chelsea Embankment is light and spacious, sleeping up to five people. The French doors lead to the outdoor deck, where you can watch the world go past on the river. Reviews say "delightful" and "immaculately clean and comfortable". You don't get many opportunities to stay by the river in SW3 for this price.

Little Venice narrowboat
Where the Regent's Canal meets the Paddington arm of the Grand Union Canal is where you'll find Jessie, the narrowboat. It's a two bedder that can sleep four people but we'd want the whole vessel to ourselves to fully enjoy the tranquil oasis of Little Venice and forget about the busy capital around us. The wooden interior is exactly what we'd expect of a narrowboat, and gives us warm fuzzy flashbacks to watching Rosie & Jim as children.

Nine Elms houseboat
Moored between Chelsea and Vauxhall bridges on a quiet part of the Thames, this houseboat has recently been redesigned into three luxury flats. Escape the bustle of the City or your noisy neighbours and rent either a double room or a whole flat and enjoy epic views of the water through floor to ceiling windows. All mod cons included, there is even an outdoor swimming pool on the pier.

Dutch clipper
Ahoy captain! This Dutch clipper has been completely rebuilt in the last five years and is now moored in Battersea and sleeps up to six people. Guests get the whole ship to themselves although unfortunately, you're not allowed to actually sail her. We quite fancy having a dinner party at the eight-seater Captain's table upstairs. It's luxurious aboard with two double cabins, en-suite wet rooms and a wood-fired stove to keep things cosy.

Romantic boat
If it's romance you're after — a night away from the children, or an anniversary treat — this boat is the one for you and yours: colourful, comfortable, with room just for two. Its location is in a locked mooring, so the only unexpected visitor that you're likely to get is the cute cat, who may stop by.

Brentford cabin
Hire a cabin onboard this canal boat on the River Brent and experience a more tranquil London. In prime position to explore the cultural treasures of west London, it's an easy walk to Syon House, Gunnersbury Park, Chiswick, Kew and Richmond plus there are plenty of nice local pubs to try.
