Best Gigs In London This Week: 1-7 September 2014

Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects five small/medium gigs around town this week.

Tuesday 2 September

Barney Artist, The Macbeth, Hoxton

This gig is his first ever headlining show, but the track above got 10,000 listens on its first day — and we think his popularity is justified. His EP Bespoke has just been released. @barneyartist, @TheMacbeth

Wednesday 3 September

Katey Brooks, Cecil's, London Bridge

https://soundcloud.com/kateybrooks/i-fought-lovers

Following her recent trip to Bethlehem to play in a peace festival Katey Brooks was inspired to organise this gig to raise money for emergency humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza. Tickets are only £7 and we hear the cocktails at this place are sensational! @Katey_Brooks, @CecilsLondon

Thursday 4 September

FURS, The Finsbury

They played the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury this summer and have a new single coming out in October which the band are describing as "Psychedelic Pop". If you can't make this gig they are headlining at the Lexington on 8 October. @fursfurs, @TheFinPub

Friday 5 September

Emile Bernard, Shacklewell Arms, Dalston

https://soundcloud.com/emile-bernard/emile-bernard-friends-in-time

This musician renamed himself after the French post-Impressionist painter, and takes a similarly cerebral approach to his music. This track is two years old but it's the one of his tracks we associate most strongly with this utterly unique and talented artist. @emilebernarduk, @ShacklewellArms

Saturday 6 September

Folie Ordinaire, Hootenanny, Brixton

https://soundcloud.com/folie-ordinaire/chez-folie-1

Folie Ordinaire make what they call "Far Out Disco". It's funky, loud and very hard not to dance to. Their name roughly means 'ordinary indugance' but sounds much better in the French! @folieordinaire_ , @HootanannyBrix
