Munch A Tongue Sandwich At Edible Cinema

Following on from the release of tickets by Luna Cinema and Rooftop Cinema for their summer seasons, Edible Cinema has now announced its upcoming Romeo + Juliet weekend.

On 3 and 4 May, cinema-goers have a chance to watch the 1996 version of Romeo + Juliet, often attributed to kickstarting Claire Danes's career, and co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Where does the edible aspect come in? On arrival, guests are given a tray of numbered mystery boxes containing various foods. At crucial points in the film, a number will be displayed, and guests can tuck into the food in the box of the same number. A complicated cinema snack, or a ruse to keep the audience awake? No, Edible Cinema aims to give film fans a more complete film experience, encompassing texture, taste and smell.

While we would like to believe that the content of these magic boxes is a step up from popcorn, we've heard rumours of a 'tongue sandwich' and vials of 'poison'. Bombay Sapphire cocktails will be served throughout.

Aimed at more serious film fans than other cinema events, Edible Cinema screens the film in the rather prestigious setting of BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, for the first time, moving from its previous home at Electric Cinema on Portobello Road.

Edible Cinema is at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly 3-4 May, 3pm or 7pm. Tickets £37. To book and for more information see the Edible Cinema website.
