Let's go underground and explore the massive work-in-progress that is Crossrail. Here are some pictures from inside the Crossrail Tunnels, which we published on this day one year ago. We recently caught a train through one of the Crossrail tunnels, too...

Londoddities

It's Mural Week on Londoddities. For the final instalment we thought we'd share a mural that's only ever seen by the seriously injured and the heroes who help them. And it's very probable it no longer exists. This wrap-around panorama of London's skies formerly occupied the crew waiting area of London Air Ambulance, on top of the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. The pad was moved to a loftier perch on the hospital's new extension two years ago (pictures). We don't know the fate of this mural and would love to hear from anyone at the hospital who knows whether it was preserved following the move. London Air Ambulance is funded entirely by donation and is surely one of the most deserving causes in London. Details on how to support it can be found here.
