Guided Walks: Explore London With Academic Experts

Professors, doctors and lecturers from the capital's universities leave their classrooms and archives this week, to share their passions with fellow Londoners.

Join a professor of typography to learn about the capital's lettering; a lecturer in late-medieval literature for a walk around the sites of East End theatres; or hook up with academics from Queen Mary and Goldsmiths to look for signs of spring, and contribute to their phenological clock project.

The tours are part of TCCE London Winter Walking Weekend, and take place from 28 February to 2 March, at £8 a pop. A full schedule and booking information can be found here.

London has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to tour guide companies and independent operators. Yet there's always room for projects like this, giving you the chance to pick the brains of London academics, out in the wild, on their specialised subjects.
