DAVID WEIR: Meet the British wheelchair athlete who won no less than six gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games, at Waterstones Canary Wharf. Free, just turn up (early arrival recommended), 12.30pm
PARLIAMENT: Attend an open lecture in the Houses of Parliament where Dr Caroline Shenton, author of The Day Parliament Burned Down, tells the story of the day in 1834 when a great blaze ripped through the House of Parliament. Free, prebook, 2.30-4pm

Brain & Spine Foundation is a charity committed to providing information and support to people living with neurological conditions across the UK. They put on a variety of fundraising events across the UK year-round and at the moment, Londoners can sign up to run for them in the 2014 London Marathon. With professional physio support, competitions and parties there are plenty of good reasons to get involved.
