Have Your Say On The Redevelopment Of Bank Station

bankinterchange

Bank station is one of the busiest on the network, with almost 100 million passengers per year. It urgently requires major improvements, both to increase capacity and to improve those utterly loathsome interchanges. Plans are afoot for new escalators and lifts, new connecting tunnels, a new station entrance on Cannon Street, and the conversion of an existing Northern Line platform tunnel into a walkway (with the tracks shifting into a new tunnel). Diamond Geezer goes into more analysis.

Transport for London is setting out these latest plans to public consultation. You can give your views online, or visit a small exhibition in nearby St Mary Abchurch from 8-11 October (11am-7pm). This will include a scale model of the proposals (which are a little hard to fathom on a screen), with TfL staff on hand to talk you through. Oh, and you can admire this very handsome Wren church while you're there.

Consultation ends on 8 November, and building work is supposed to being in April 2016 for completion in 2021.

In other consultation news, updated planning applications for the former News International site, also known as 'Fortress Wapping' and now rechristened London Dock, go on public display at Pennington Street Warehouse from 9-12 October.
