Anyone who's spent any time wandering the streets of Shoreditch is likely to have encountered John Dolan. For the past three years, the artist and his dog George have sat on the local pavements, while John sketches the surrounding buildings.

For one week only, his work will be on show at Howard Griffin Gallery...but with a twist. John's work often documents the ever-changing street art of Shoreditch, so in a reciprocal gesture of appreciation, numerous street artists have added their own marks to one of his drawings.

The lineup includes some pretty famous names. ROA, Stik, Thierry Noir, Pablo Delgado and Malarky are among the more familiar contributors, but around 40 artists are participating, from all over the world. According to the gallery:

Ostensibly a solo show for Dolan, George the Dog, John the Artist will also in effect be the biggest street art group show of recent memory, bringing a unique group of artists together to document both the constant and the ephemeral in a city that is ever changing.

George the Dog, John the Artist runs at Howard Griffin Gallery, 189-190 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6HU from 19-26 September. Entrance is free. A live painting evening featuring John Dolan, Stik and other artists on the opening night.
