Eat food with 500 at Southbanquet

Local Love at Angel Canal Festival

A "village fete with boats" might be just right for a community spirited date on the Regent's Canal. An annual festival with a heartfelt history, Angel Canal Festival will entertain you with music, street theatre, art and stalls, as well as opportunities to take to the water on a boat, show off your canoeing prowess or score a goal in Arsenal Community's penalty shoot out. It takes place on Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. If things to well there are plenty of good pubs and restaurants to retire to around Islington.

Summer Skating at Ally Pally

This weekend is your last opportunity to ice skate at Alexandra Palace for just £5 (download the voucher). When you've finished bumping into each other on the ice, enjoy the wonderful view, have a pint in the Phoenix, laze in Alexandra Park or take a romantic pedal boat ride on the Boating Lake.

Free Al Fresco Film at the Scoop

The Scoop at More London presents free films in its 1,000 seater amphitheatre throughout September. Whether it's Bond, Back to the Future or tear jerking epic Les Mis, cuddle up and enjoy the dusk screenings as autumn arrives.

Eat food with 500

If dinner for two is too anxiety provoking to handle, get tickets for Southbanquet — a feast for 500 on Saturday and Sunday nights this week at just £15 a head. As well as a chance to partake of the pot-luck platter there are loads of foodie workshops and activities going on all weekend, and the very jolly Festival of Neighbourhood offers lots of other stuff to see and do.

Experience new music

Feeling culturally adventurous? Combine it with nightclubbing at Nonclassical (Wednesday 4 September) or Blank Canvas (Thursday 5 September), two Shoreditch club nights dedicated to contemporary classical, experimental and electronic music. Experience high quality musicianship and cutting edge compositions without the formality of the concert hall. Whether you like what you hear or not, both have bars and you'll certainly have something to talk about.
