In what might be seen as a symbol of SE15's wider changes, the multi-storey car park on Peckham Rye, best known for Frank's Campari Bar (which we named one of London's best rooftop drinking holes) and the annual Bold Tendencies exhibition, is to be converted into a full-fledged art centre.
According to the project's backers:
The reinvention of the site will be home to visual art, dance, music and film, creating a destination to stimulate the high street, inspiring social cohesion and producing a unifying focal point for the area.
The work will cost a projected £10m. Further details are available on this website, although at time of writing the site is yet to launch. There's more over at the Evening Standard, which has an interview with Hannah Barry, one of the key people behind the project.
