PUTTING SCIENCE BACK INTO SCIENCE FICTION: What are the current breakthroughs and technologies that will inspire the next generation of science fiction? IMPERIAL FESTIVAL: The South Kensington Campus of Imperial College is turned into one big science funfair, with talks, demos, food and drink, and interactive robots. The Imperial Festival runs today and tomorrow and is suitable for all the family. In the intro video below, Lord Robert Winston says he looks forward to meeting you there...so don't disappoint him! Free, just turn up, 4-10pm

Saturday 4 May

It's Star Wars Day...May the 4th be with you.

IMPERIAL FESTIVAL: Continues today. Free, just turn up, noon-6pm

JUGULAR: A 'science cabaret', featuring a heady combination of top scientists, storytellers, poets, actors, musicians, visual artists and circus performers, each putting their own spin on the marvels of the universe, comes to Rich Mix tonight. Jugular Experiment 2, as it's called, promises to be about as eclectic an event as you're ever likely to find. £12, prebook, 7.30pm
