Random Fact of the Day
Horace Jones, the main architect of Tower Bridge, also designed Leadenhall, Billingsgate and Smithfield markets. He also contributed the memorial to Temple Bar, which stands near the Law Courts. Today's fact comes from reader Matt Keen.

Good Cause of the Day
A live-storytelling project for charity Marie Curie Cancer Care is looking for London-based bloggers. They'd be invited to visit and write about a specific service at Marie Curie's Hampstead hospice. As well as world-class medical care, all the hospices offer services that are more surprising, such as a fully functioning gym, make-up and hair sessions through to award-winning chefs. The charity is matching bloggers with relevant activities — for example a food blogger to spend time with a hospice chef. The resulting content will then be published (on their own blogs) and brought together with a Storify over a 12 hour period, giving a glimpse of 12 hours in the life of Marie Curie. Want to be one of those bloggers? If so, contact Liz Scarff on [email protected]. You can follow the work of the charity in London on its local Facebook page.

London Weather
Is the fog on the Tyne still wholly owned by Gazza? And who has the freehold for the fog on the Thames? We ask because London's river is looking decidedly misty this morning, and someone needs to take responsibility. A mild but bleak afternoon will give way to a drizzle-git of an evening. In summary: rubbish. BBC Weather has more.
