Random London Fact of the Day
Clerkenwell Fire Station is said to be the oldest working fire station in Europe, in operation since 1872 and based in a Grade II listed building on Rosebery Avenue. Here's an excellent photo-tour from Spitalfields Life (playing away from home). Alas, it's one of many stations facing possible closure in the current round of funding cuts. A campaign is under way to save the historic station. If you'd like to learn more, follow @SaveClerkenwell on Twitter, and let's see if we can get them up to 1,000 followers by the end of the day.

Good Cause of the Day
Let's stick with fire-fighting. This year's Tunnel 2 Towers charity run, in memory of those rescuers who died during the 9/11 attacks, recently opened for registration. Full details have yet to be released but, if the same as last year, it will start in Southwark Park, dip under the Thames via the Rotherhithe Tunnel and finish in the shadow of the Canary Wharf towers. 5km in total. Funds raised go to emergency service charities such as The Fire Fighters Charity. It takes place on 21 July, and there's a 10% discount on early bird sign-ups. Register here.

London Weather
Today's forecast should be sang to the tune of Mambo No. 5. Yes it should.

A little bit of raincloud in the morn,
A little bit of drizzle down from the dawn,
A little bit of bluster, easterly,
A little bit of weather's all I see.

A little bit of lunchtime winter sun,
A little bit of blue-skied sandwich fun,
A little bit of cloud once more at night
A little bit of cold, but that's alright

Yeah!

Bah-bah-ba-bah! (dum-de-dum-dum) Bah-bah-ba-bah! (dum-de-dum-dum)
Mambo Number 5!

BBC Weather presents the forecast with a less obvious brass section.
