Preview: Terror 2012 @ Soho Theatre

With Halloween just round the corner, it’s time to get excited about the Terror 2012 season at the Soho Theatre.

Shocking, disturbing controversial and divisive, Terror is the UK’s only annual horror and Grand Guignol-inspired theatre season. Now in its ninth year, at turns both psychologically thrilling and oddly humorous, Terror returns this season with writers Robert Farquhar (Kissing Sid James & Gods Official), Alex Jones (Noise & I’m a Minger), Mike McShane (Paul Merton’s Impro Chums, Mon Droit) and Darren Ormandy (Hamburg & Sweetmeat). The four short plays explore theatre of horror, reinventing Grand Guignol for the 21st century. Interspersed between the plays is chilling cabaret from award‐winning songstress Sarah‐Louise Young (Cabaret Whore and Fascinating Aida) and Desmond O’Connor (Vive Le Cabaret).

Produced by theatre company The Sticking Place (that’ll be a Macbeth reference, fact-fans) Terror 2012: All In The Mind is all about fear. And fun. Some parts may be distressing, so this is a festival for over-18s only. And even if you’re a squeamish 33 year old, you might want to look away now…

Terror 2012: All In The Mind runs at the Soho Theatre Downstairs from 16 October to 3 November at 7.30pm. Tickets range from £10 to £17.50. Visit terrorseason.com to find out more.
