Paralympic Lowdown: Friday 31 August

During the London 2012 Paralympic Games we’ll bring you a daily heads-up on what’s happening where, including sporting and cultural events, transport and weather.

Top things to see and do

  • Films and exhibitions go on display at the Southbank Centre's Unlimited Festival, as well as Mat Fraser's Crip Tease and a double bill of dance and music from Marc Brew Company and the British Paraorchestra.
  • It's late night opening at the British Museum (to 8.30pm) to see the free exhibition about how the Olympic and Paralympic medals were made. The Natural History Museum, V&A and the big art galleries are also open late.
  • Round off the summer holidays by playing with all kinds of instruments at the National Theatre's Making Music workshop (11am-1pm, free).

Transport hotspots

Kings Cross, London Bridge, Waterloo, Chancery Lane, St Paul's, Bermondsey, Canada Water, Canary Wharf and, inevitably, Stratford, are expected to be very busy at various points during the day. Charing Cross, Green Park, Victoria and other stations on the Jubilee, Central and DLR lines are expected to feel some strain. Here's your daily heat map.

The Paralympic Route Network is now in operation. While smaller than its Olympic equivalent, drivers are encouraged to think ahead about their journeys. We'll add any realtime updates here.
