Pop Up Screens Outdoor Cinema Season

That glowing thing outside? It's OK, don't be afraid, shhh... It's only the sun. It looks like it's back, which means Pop Up Screens should be able to continue their season without the cancellations that have dogged them so far. At the moment they're at Hilly Fields in Brockley, showing Napoleon Dynamite tonight and Ghostbusters tomorrow (let the Furies beat upon our heads for being too late to tell you about Anchorman last night. But it did rain). Comedian Helen Arney will also be singing sciencey songs before the Ghostbusters screening.

The rest of the season visits East Acton (Weird Science, Submarine, Zoolander), Morden Hall Park (Taken, The Big Lebowski, Ferris Bueller's Day Off), Bishops Park in Fulham (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Fight Club, Donnie Darko), Kilburn Grange Park (Dazed and Confused, Grosse Pointe Blank, Top Gun) and Ravenscourt Park (Mallrats, Leon, Back to the Future). Tickets cost £8 each, £20 for a weekend ticket or £50 for the full season. Films start when the sun goes down and doors open around 90 minutes to two hours beforehand.

Pop Up Screens has a good FAQ on their website (bring something to sit on and something warm; don't bring dogs; yes there are toilets) where you can learn more.

Doors open at 7.30pm for Napoleon Dynamite tonight, 21 July, and Ghostbusters tomorrow, 22 July. Tickets £8. The nearest station to Hilly Fields is Ladywell.
