Monday: Get some art history in the pub looking at Tudor portraits at the Monarch in Camden from 7.30pm (free).

Wednesday: Showrel is a new monthly film night showcasing an eclectic mix of short films by independent film-makers at Balham Bowls Club, SW12 from 8.30pm (£2).

Friday: Brink Festival promises new work by new creators "on the Brink of disciplinarity" with dance, theatre and visual arts at Central School of Speech and Drama till 28 June (all free but please book).

Have a "lustrous evening of myth, music, debate and messy play" at Wellcome Collection looking at elements from 7-11pm (free).

Greenwich & Docklands International Festival (GDIF) starts. It's amazing and all free. Check out our preview but tonight it's Prometheus in Greenwich at 10pm (free).

Saturday: Bishopsgate Institute's Open Day promises tasters of courses, tours of the building and a talk about the Panoramas of Lost London from 10.30am-3.45pm (free).

Join in the Spitalfields Music Midsummer Street Party on Brushfield Street from midday till 5.30pm (free).

Take your kids along to the Junior Open House Festival in the Square Mile (free).

The N21 Festival culminates with its Fancy Fair throughout Winchmore Hill from 10am (free).

Sunday: Picnic on Camberwell Green with the Chutney Preserves and watch the Puppet Games from 1-7.30pm — part of the Camberwell Arts Festival (free).

Bow Arts host a midsummer fayre on Taylor Place off Payne Road, Bow with storytelling, art stalls, bouncy castle and more between 11am-5pm (free).
