Preview: Da Vinci Anatomical Walks

In a summer groaning was must-see exhibitions, the Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist exhibition at the Queen's Gallery possibly tops the lot, garnering rave reviews from everyone we speak to, and a five-star rating from the Telegraph, among others.

The Royal Collection, in cahoots with Wellcome Collection, is now bringing fleshy enquiry to the streets with a series of guided walks of anatomical London. Led by Richard Barnett, an experienced guide and author of Medical London, the tours will reveal how 18th Century London was at the centre of medical progress. You won't find many tales of Da Vinci himself, but our city had its own cast of anatomical geniuses. If, for example, you're not familiar with the story of the pioneering Hunter brothers, then we urge you to go. 'Tis a twisted tale of grave robbery, monomania, flesh and blood, with a literal and giant skeleton in the closet.

The tours run on 4, 7, 24 and 26 July 2012. Tickets must be pre-booked and cost £16 (£13 students), which includes entrance into the Da Vinci exhibition.
