How do you fancy having dinner with an up-and-coming writer in a setting appropriate to their work? How about, for example, an evening with Evie Wyld, eating the kind of food she deliciously describes in her Australian-set novel? Well, you can't, because it sold out over a month in advance. What you can do is snap up a ticket for an event with Craig Taylor, whose book Londoners was our favourite of last year. The experience hasn't been officially announced, but our inside information is that it'll be proper London food and drink in a proper London setting.
There are a lot of quirky nights on the London literary scene, some of which are more bothered about the LOLz than the writing. The organisers of Literary Dinners want to put the author front and centre while also creating a night to remember. To give another example, last month Alex Preston read from The Revelations at the 18th century Dissenters' Chapel in Kensal Green, as guests enjoyed a Last Supper-style meal.
