Creative cultural hub Rich Mix has announced its March/April programme with some truly adventurous and unmissable events on offer.

The Women of the World Festival, officially running 15–29 March, kicks off early with an all-female edition of regular spoken word showcase Tongue Fu on Thursday 8 March, featuring the improvised poetic talents of Jan Blake and Anna Freeman, accompanied by the Tongue Fu band (Nostalgia 77, UNKLE).

'Why it's kicking off everywhere', a discussion concerning the scenes of last year’s riots and rebellions and held by Newsnight's Paul Mason, is just one of the highlights to be found at the day-long (and at £10, reasonably priced) Festival of Dangerous Ideas on Saturday 17 March.

There are plenty of laughs to be had and chances to get involved in April. Working closely with talented artists and showcasing singers, comedians and wordsmiths, pop along to Allsortz on Monday 9 April for an eclectic night. And you can even apply to perform if you fancy a go yourself. Then Mark Steel’s in Town on Thursday 19 April, with the award-winning Knock2bag comedy night capping things off on 27 April.

Rich Mix is at 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, E1 6LA
