New Royal London Hospital Opens

After nearly half a decade of construction and fitting-out, the Royal London's new buildings are fully open to patients.

The move from the hospital's historic site on Whitechapel Road began in December, when London's Air Ambulance and trauma unit opened a beachhead at the new facilities. (See our site visit.)

The fresh building cost £650 million and contains 110 wards, many with individual accommodation and en suite bathrooms. The BBC report lists out some of the many impressive statistics, such as the 75,000 bed sheets needed for the new wards

Photos from the new wards can be seen on the Barts and the London NHS Trust Flickr page.
