Tragedy Strikes Several Families Over Seasonal Period

This Christmas break seems to have been unusually filled with tragic events, in the shape of stabbings, kidnappings and assaults.

A woman has been found dead in an abandoned car in east London after being kidnapped earlier on Monday morning. Police have now named the victim as Kirsty Treloar but have yet to release any details on the suspect.

An 18-year-old man, named as Seydou Diarrassouba, was stabbed to death on Oxford Street on 26 December. The murder led to a series of arrests in raids across London but as yet no-one has been charged. Police have denied a taser was employed to repell the crowds.

In Clerkenwell, Aaron McKoy had been celebrating his 22nd birthday before an alleged altercation which may have led to his shooting early on New Year's Day in nearby Portpool Lane. A suspect was seen leaving the scene towards Leather Lane and detectives from Trident, which investigates gun-related murders within the black community, are appealing for witnesses. A man has now been arrested.

Manzar Juma has been charged with the murder of Ruby Love, a mother of three found in the Grand Union Canal at Bankside on Christmas Day after going missing the previous evening.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, even the Met weren't inculpable: thanks to some Freedom of Information requests it was revealed that 356 officers and 41 PCSOs have criminal convictions while 130 were allowed to resign rather than being given the boot.

After that catalogue of tragedy we rather hope that 2012 will be a better year for everyone. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Alternatively to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
