Tasteful or rubbish? Homerton by tributory

Where are London's shittest and bestest Christmas decorations? Hays Galleria looks gorgeous at the moment, while Carnaby Street have gone for what looks like mutant mistletoe. Get out beyond zone 1, however, and things aren't so plentiful. @rindiecinema tweeted a photo of a woeful Balham last week and it looks like Homerton is experiencing something similar. (The other week we walked past Catford's Christmas tree with lights only on the upper half, but it seems someone's rearranged it since then.)

But what we're aching to see is one of those houses festooned in lights. Someone must live near one, surely?

I think the lamp-post strips in Homerton, Stokey & Stamford Hill are great! That picture is a very poor representation... Simple, effective, can we keep them up all year, please?

Crystal Palace / Upper Norwood's feeble efforts would even shame Ebeneezer Scrooge

Oxford Street - 'cos nothing says Christmas like an umbrella... what!?

Ben

I think comparing a daytime shot of Balham to nighttime shots of elsewhere is a little unfair. At night the simple white decorations on the lamposts actually look pretty tasteful compared to a lot of other attempts.

The "Brentford is Brilliant" lights 'welcoming' you into Brentford. It is not.

I drive through homerton every evening and tge decorations are quite tasteful. The photo is rather poor quality

There's a house on Leigham Court Road in Streatham that is swamped with tacky Christmas decorations and lights. It looks so out of place.

The Imagination Building on Store Street just off Tottenham Court Road always has cool lights - this year the whole of the building's been turned into a giant Christmas bauble.

I rode the bus through Sloane Square last night. It was gorgeous! They have giant twinkling balls of light in the trees and a huge fairy light spirally christmas tree.
