Northern Line Returns To Tottenham Court Road

A quick note for commuters on the Northern line – the platforms at Tottenham Court Road, which have been closed since April of this year to allow work on the huge Crossrail engineering project that is transforming the station, will reopen the morning of Monday, 28th November.

The Tube-heads among us (we know you're out there) might be interested in watching the video below, released by Transport for London, that shows some of the work going on behind the scenes at the station over the past six months.

The fully revamped station is due to re-open in four years time, although Crossrail itself isn't expected until 2018.

You can see a walkthrough of how the rebuilt station will look, while we've previously seen how the eight new Crossrail stations will look.

For those interested in knowing when Blackfriars Tube station will reopen, the news isn't so good: the original 'December 2011' date looks unlikely now, and a date on or around 5th January is more probable. Nothing confirmed yet, mind.
