It's the last Friday of the month which means the regular arty extravaganza of late openings for galleries on the South London Art Map in Bermondsey, Peckham and Deptford. There's added oomph tonight as it's the final weekend of Deptford X, the annual visual arts festival in SE8. Here are some highlights:
- Take a SLAM pay what you can walking tour round Deptford X. Meet Bearspace Gallery at 6.30pm, suggested donation £5. There's an after party at the fabulous Old Police Station.
- Skylark Galleries on Gabriel's Wharf have a late opening for a new exhibition launch followed by an after party in studio 6.
- Head for Southwark Park in Peckham for All Is Not Lost in the Cafe Gallery followed by the Bold Tendencies (that lot who put sculpture in the multi-storey car park) closing party at the Bussey Building.
Have a look at the full listings of events and openings at the SLAM Last Friday website.
Oh, and look out for Hew Locke's specially commissioned SLAM badge (pictured) which you can pick up from galleries open late if you're one of the first 30 people through the door. Download and print out the three maps here.
Other artistic happenings this weekend include open studios across Lambeth, Wandsworth and NW10.
