Museum Of Broken Relationships Opens In Covent Garden

What do a crumbling garden gnome, a model of a small molecule and a pair of orange pants have in common? They're all objects from failed relationships, collected together at a new exhibition in Covent Garden.

The Museum of Broken Relationships is on tour from its usual home in Zagreb. It displays the detritus of a thousand cancelled love affairs. Tokens of affection that are no longer valid. Items used in anger to punctuate a parting. The battered gnome is one such, hurled at the windscreen of an erstwhile lover's car.

The weirdly personal and personally weird items can be viewed at the Tristan Bates Theatre on Tower Street until 4 September. Tickets are £3.50. You can even donate your own objects.

There's more on the background to the museum here.
