Yes...it looks like you can get a rhino on a horse.

Mile End Park Stadium will shudder and rumble this Friday (5 August) as eight rhinos (well, volunteers in costumes) compete in a 100m race. It's a charity event organised by Save The Rhino, who hope to raise awareness of animal poaching.

You can watch the horned athletes speed down the running track by turning up between 9.30 and 10.30am. We're told that a real black rhino could cover the ground in 6.45 seconds, so we're expecting great things.

This isn't the first sport these urban ungulates have mastered. As part of the Gold Challenge, the rhinoceroses have been attempting various Olympic sports including badminton, archery and rowing. The fewer questions you ask about the rhino on horseback, the better. We're looking forward to synchronised rhino swimming.

You can find out more about the plight of the rhino here, help support their Gold Challenge efforts here, and follow the charity via Twitter. And remember to get down to Mile End Park Stadium this Friday if you're free.
