The week ahead in literary London

Wednesday: YARN is back at Concrete, with Nii Ayikwei Parkes and Harry Venning joining regulars Jarred McGinnis, Sam Taradash and Tom Basden (7.30pm, £5).

Pauline Black launches her 2-Tone memoir at Housmans (7pm, £3).

Sebastian Barry heads to Foyles to talk about his new novel, On Canaan's Side (6.30pm, free but reserve a place in advance).

Literary salon Polari is at the RVT's Hot August Fringe with guests Karen McLeod, Sophia Blackwell and Christopher Fowler (7pm, £5).

Find out how poetry magazines get made at the Poetry Library, with insight from Fuselit, South Bank Poetry and Modern Poetry in Translation (8pm, free).

Richard Purnell is at Hen and Chickens until Saturday with a new show about breast cancer, called Boobs, Work & Me. Support comes from Gary from Leeds, Paul Cree and Sean Mahoney (7.30pm, £10).

Richard Tyrone-Jones is at the Camden Fringe today, Thursday and Sunday with his show about his heart failure (Camden Head, 6.30pm, £7.50).

Thursday: We are holding our breath in anticipation of seeing the peerless AL Kennedy at Foyles, talking about her new novel The Blue Book (6.30pm, free but reserve a place in advance).

There's tons of Londony goodness at Hackney's Railroad Cafe, with Travis Elborough, Jeremy Worman, Mark Mason, Tim Wells, Gemma Seltzer and Ashna Sarkar (7pm, £3).

Simon Van Booy and Molly Peacock are doing a double header at Woolfson & Tay (7pm, £5 / £3).

Benjamin Zephaniah launches his new book, When I Grow Up, at Keats House (6.30pm, free but you must reserve in advance).

Friday: Robert Muchamore is signing copies of the next installment of his Cherub series at Foyles from 10am. Take the kids.

Legendary poet Fran Landesman died a couple of weeks ago; celebrate her life with Miles Davis Landesman, Simon Wallace, Sarah Moule, Michael Horovitz, Molly Parkin, Dudley Sutton, Abraham Gibson, Niall Spooner-Harvey and Kath Best, at the RADA Foyer Bar, scene of her last gig (7pm, £6 / £5).

Kat Francois hosts a night of SLAM poetry at the Poetry Cafe (8pm, £5 / £3).

Saturday: Gosh! Comics is moving to Soho, and to mark the opening Dave McKean is doing an exhibition and signing from 2pm.

Get a misguided tour of Camden, Utter! style. Meet at the Cobden statue by Mornington Crescent by 2pm (£5 before 2pm / £7 after).

Sunday: Charlie Dark, Soweto Kinch, Carrie Grant, Mr Gee, Zena Edwards, Hollie McNish and Sh'Maya all perform at Jumoke Fashola's Jazz Verse Jukebox (8pm, £10).

Get a taste of the erotic with Paul Burston, Holestar, Chris Young, Lucy Leagrave and Sarah Berry, at Velvet Tongue (6.30pm, £3).

Monday: Hari Kunzru, Mark Watson and Ross Raisin read from their new works at The Book Stops Here - for free! (7.30pm)

David Parry invites you to an Evening with the Gruntlers at the Poetry Cafe (7pm, £5 / £3).

Tuesday: Richard Tyrone-Jones and Utter! are really stamping their mark on this week. This month's gig is themed around Puppets, and features Jon Stone, James McKay, Chris Young and Anthony Fairweather, while Tasha Moscovici, Jill Abram, Michael Clift and Cheryl McLennan battle it out for a paid gig (7.30pm, £5 / £7).

Niall O'Sullivan presents Poetry Unplugged open mic night at the Poetry Cafe (7.30pm, £4 / £3).

Nick Field and Susan Cook talk about Wotever Sex at the Hot August Fringe (7pm, £7).
