TONIGHT: Pink Saris Film Screening @ Human Rights Action Centre

Amnesty International UK's Women's Action Network is showing film Pink Saris at the Human Rights Action Centre tonight.

The film's directed by Kim Longinotto, and follows the story of Sampat Pal, a young girl married into a family who mistreated her horribly.  Sampat fights back, leaves her in-laws and becomes famous as a champion for beleaguered women throughout Uttar Pradesh. This is an unflinching look at Sampat Pal's all-women vigilante Gulabi Gang.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A and discussion on women’s rights in India with director Kim Loginotto.

The screening starts at 7pm tonight, at The Human Rights Action Centre, 17 – 25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA. Admission free; £5 donation requested. Book at www.amnesty.org.uk/events
