With books such as London Orbital, Lights Out For The Territory and Hackney: That Rose Red Empire, Iain Sinclair has built up an almost unrivalled corpus on the capital. His prose style can be challenging, sometimes maddeningly so, but those who persevere enjoy a nourishing exploration of London's outsider and underground cultures.
Sinclair is also an accomplished speaker. A not-all-that-rare opportunity comes round tonight, when the author appears at Birkbeck in conversation with social historian and namesake Iain Boal. We've paid a well-spent tenner to see Sinclair in the past, but tonight's talk is completely free and there's no need to book. Just turn up for 6.30pm at Room B36, Birkbeck Main Building.
