Ticket Alert: See Kevin Spacey Play Richard III at the Old Vic

Today's the day you can break away from this winter of discontent and book tickets to see Richard III at the Old Vic; it's sure to be the theatrical event of our glorious summer 2011.

Yes, Kevin Spacey's determined to prove a villain, and is taking on Shakespeare's nastiest, rudely stamp'd, deformed, unfinish'd role. And we can't help thinking with Sam Mendes in the director's seat, it'll be quite an exciting show.

Richard III starts the final season of the trans-Atlantic Bridge Project, spanning the Old Vic in London and BAM's Harvey Theatre in New York. (Kev will be offering his kingdom for a horse over the pond in January 2012.)

Sam Mendes says,"I am absolutely delighted to be working with Kevin again for the first time since American Beauty, and I am doubly thrilled that he will be leading year three of The Bridge Project. Richard III is a play I love, and a role I think Kevin is born to play."

Richard III plays at the Old Vic in London from 18 June to 11 September. Visit www.oldvictheatre.com for more information and to book tickets.
