Leytonstone Man Negotiated Hostages' Release

pirate_151110.jpg A Somali Briton from Leytonstone is behind the release of Paul and Rachel Chandler, held by Somali pirates for over a year. Dahir Abdullahi Kadiye, who runs a private security firm and was instrumental in securing the release of the Sirius Star crew in January 2009, got involved with the Chandlers' case six months ago when his children felt ashamed after seeing the couple's appeals on TV. Kadiye told Channel 4 News no extra ransom had been paid (following £350k over the summer) but it's widely reported that a similar sum was paid by the Somali government last week.
