What are you up to this weekend? Here's a round up of our recommendations and a smattering of suggestions to help you make the most of your 48 hours leisure time.

All weekend:

  • Elefest is Elephant and Castle's free annual festival featuring film, folklore, food and other fun things that don't begin with f.
  • Go to Theatre Souk at Picton Place. £7 entry then barter with reams of ace fringe acts for a unique performance experience. The word of mouth recommendation of 'a bit like what Punchdrunk used to do' is good enough for us.
  • Watch out for blanket body art as the London International Tattoo Convention takes place at the usually brilliantly deserted Tobacco Dock, Wapping.
  • Deptford X contemporary art festival begins with open studios and exhibitions - pick up the Deptford Art Map and explore.
  • Autumn Ambles are free with Walk London this weekend.
  • The London Spanish Film Festival begins at Cine Lumiere, SW7
  • The Rat Race scampers all over the city so watch out for hyped up adrenaline junkies dashing hither and thither.
  • Friday:

  • Eat Malaysian this evening in Trafalgar Square
  • Partake of "diplodocus-sized helping of entertainment and enlightenment" sans tiddlers tonight at the Natural History Museum.

    Saturday:

  • Go gastromental with the Experimental Food Society Spectacular!
  • Walthamstow throws a Vintage Lifestyle Fair and garden tea party at the Nags Head between 12-5pm.
  • The Lexi pop up Circus Cinema screens Circus Paradiso under Zippo's Big Top on Hampstead Heath at 9pm. Tickets £5.
  • Shoreditch embraces 19th century hedonism with La Belle Epoque. Dress as a tortured courtesan and quaff absinthe at Shoreditch Studios, 8pm-2am. Tickets £20.
  • Sunday:
  • Celebrate Eid in the Square with diverse musical performances, souks, exhibitions and stuff for the kids. Free, 2.30-6.30pm, Trafalgar Square.
  • Regent's Street Festival sees the legendary shopping thoroughfare pedestrianised for a fashion themed 'Mile of Style'.
  • Get on your bike, snap the Olympic Park with an expert by your side and enjoy lunch at ViewTube with Shoot Experience.
  • Looking ahead:

  • Diarise the Londonist Quiz at the Royal Institution on 8 October
  • Sign up now for the London Transport Museum Overground Flickr Scavenger Hunts on 9 October.
