London Muslims Condemn Koran Burning

Around 11,000 Muslims attended the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden yesterday to hear US pastor Terry Jones' plans to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11 condemned as 'hatred being spread' and the denouncing of extremism. Fortunately, the plans have been postponed, though it's hard to imagine a more ignorant and idiotic manner of commemorating the events of 9/11. In an age where any news story concerning Muslims seems to become blown out of all proportion, Guardian blogger Roy Greenslade discusses whether the media were responsible for the Koran-burning pastor story going international.
