Mahatma Gandhi already has a pair of blue plaques in London; one in Bow, the other in Barons Court (you can even buy a mug with the former on). But that's not enough for Westminster university's India Media Centre which is campaigning for the City of London to install a third one. The Centre wants to commemorate Gandhi's visit to a restaurant called Central (since closed) on St Bride's Avenue, just off the Strand, where he's reported to have made the decision to become a committed vegetarian. Anybody interested in Gandhi's experiences in London should also try out this walking tour that follows his trail across the capital.
