Friday Quiz: London Science

Pterosaurs.jpg

If you walk along the South Bank this week, you can't fail to notice the giant pterosaurs larking about near the Royal Festival Hall. These beaksome proto-avians are the winged heralds for the Royal Society's Summer Science Festival (itself part of the 'See Further Festival', also known as the Festival of Science + Arts, and widely touted as the Royal Society's 350th birthday celebrations...but multiple names for the same thing was ever a facet of science, just ask a taxonomist, or pharmacist, or astronomer). As our birthday gift to that most august of learned societies, we dedicate this week's Friday Quiz to matters of a scientific bent. So, have a go, and no matter what you score, get along to the Royal Festival Hall this weekend to quiz some of the UK's best scientists about their work.

As usual, let us know in the comments how you fared. And if you're feeling generous, why not leave your own piece of London scientific trivia there too.

Previous London quizzes (go on, have a go): Characters, Dogs, East London Line, Football, German London, Museums, Parks, Politics, Pubs, Skies.
