Find My Nearest: Blue Plaque

English Heritage's blue plaques are one of Londonist's very favourite things (along with themed pub crawls and dizzying quizzes) and luckily for us, there's a wealth of websites out there which tell us where to find John Maynard Keynes, Sylvia Pankhurst and the like. The latest addition to the list, PlaqueGuide, doesn't exactly give as comprehensive guide as others such as London Remembers - out of 850 plaques, only around 230 are displayed - instead inviting the general public to do the legwork and contribute the rest via the website. Let's hope they only get the genuine ones.

Can I firstly thank you for your kind exposure and clarify the Plaque Guide features that set it aside from anything out there already.

Coverage is only weeks away. I could have completed all 850 london plaques myself quite easily. That's not what this is about. Plaque Guide is not just London, it supports the world. Plus it has a selection of map back-drops, Wiki write-ups, Google Street Views, Directions, Feedback and it also supports webservices (XML, JSON etc) so that it can share its info with others, but most of all it is intrinsically a crowd-sourcing tool. That's just the website. Watch this space for the smart-phone app coming soon. I hope this is useful and thanks again for the write-up.

kind regards
