Cycle Superhighways Open Today

bluelane.JPG

Over the past few months, London's main highways have been turning black and blue in an effort to prevent cyclists doing the same. Today, the first two (of ten) cycle superhighways open: route CS7, connecting Merton to the City; and CS3, linking Barking to Tower Gateway. The BBC are out testing the former (opinions range from 'brilliant' to 'won't make any difference'), while Diamond Geezer trails the East London route, on foot, naturally. He notes a few improvements in safety, but describes a number of bizarre slalom sections and, incredibly, a security barrier blocking the route. Let us know how you get on, if using the blue routes today. Image by Suburbanslice in the Londonist Flickr pool.
