Lit Preview And Competition: Vintage Day @ Foyles

byatt_vintage.jpg These publishers' days at Foyles really are the business. The next to lay out all kinds of goodies is Vintage, creators of some of the most beautiful book covers we've seen (next to Persephone) - and the words inside aren't bad either.

If you get yourself to the Charing Cross store on 8th May you can take part in a discussion on what makes the perfect book cover, see Toby Litt, Victoria Glendinning and Sara Wheeler discussing the great travel writers that have inspired their journeys, and AS Byatt and Booker nominee Adam Foulds talk about their literary influences. Howard Jacobson, Julie Myerson, Hephzibah Anderson and Rachel Cooke chat about sex in literature, a subject which may well come up as Martin Amis talks about the classic fiction that's shaped his career. Yes, that's Martin Amis. (Martin Amis!)

Tickets are £18 / £15 but we have two pairs to give away, as well as a copy of AS Byatt's Booker winner Possession or a set of three travel classics: The Road to Oxiana, The Worst Journey in the World and A Time in Rome. Just follow @Londonist on Twitter and keep your eyes peeled for a question a day - reply with the answer and the hashtag #londonistvintage and we'll pick a winner at random.

Vintage Day at Foyles Charing Cross Road is 8th May, 10.30am-5pm, £18 / £15. See the Foyles website for more information.
