Cycle Safety Action Plan Launched

bike_090310.jpg As SE1 reported a very nasty collision between a lorry and a cyclist near London Bridge, the Mayor was launching a new initiative to improve cycling safety. Encouraging uptake of cycle training is one aspect, but there's also a new campaign to raise awareness of other road users - particularly of HGV drivers - in TV ads from TfL which use the everyday occurrence of a bank robbery to highlight how easy it is to miss bike users. Darren Johnson also points out the absence of 20mph zones from the Plan, but with the cycle hire scheme and superhighways coming into force soon, anything that increases safety is a good thing, right?
