No More Shards Of Glass

pint_glass050210.jpg Fear not, architecture fans - this is more about stopping wannabe Begbies than the beautiful London Bridge building. Two new pint glass designs have been unveiled at the London Design Council in a bid to stop nutters attacking people with pointy shards. One is coated in a resin that stops the glass shattering while the other has a 'twin wall' similar to car windscreens. But far more important, this second design apparently keeps beer colder for longer (though some wanky talk about a "more sensual drinking experience" caused a momentary acid reflux; let's move on). The Design Council hopes to have these glasses in pubs within a year - though you'll probably spot them in zone 1 meatmarkets before they arrive in your Real Ale local. (Image / the capital cabbie)
