Last Minute Listing: Cigarette Burns Cinema

0712_braindead.jpg The last Cigarette Burns Cinema screening of the year brings a sanguinary Peter Jackson classic to The Mucky Pup in Islington. Long before he started palling about with Gollum and King Kong, the Kiwi director was a master of the sadly-neglected splatter film, and in 1992 directed one of the finest examples of the gore-heavy genre, Braindead. A "pus-soaked masterpiece", it's the perfect visceral antidote to the cloying spread of Christmas jingles that wash over the mental space at this time of year. The evening kicks off at 7.30 with three short films before the main feature, and as always, entry is free.
