Mr Benn Party: Wizard's Outfit Optional

This is just adorable: on Saturday, a Mr Benn party will take place in Festing Road, Putney, to mark the official cementing-in of a pavement slab celebrating the residency of Mr Benn (and his creator, David McKee, who changed the name of his street very slightly to create the famous address 52 Festive Road). The cartoon businessman with a penchant for fancy dress is most beloved of those of us who grew up in the days when strange-hatted shopkeepers with magical changing rooms were people to love, rather than contact your Safer Neighbourhoods team about. Residents chipped in the £500 to buy the slab, and they'll be got up in some of Mr Benn's best known costumes for the event.
