Legal Challenge To Exhibition Road Plans

2707_kensington.jpg After their City Hall protest fell on deaf ears, a charity for the blind is to lauch a legal appeal against the 'shared surface' plans for Exhibtiion Road in Kensington. The council wants to remove pavements and replace kerbs with a "tactile corduroy delineator", in a move that they say will improve visibility and make the area safer for pedestrians; Guide Dogs, one of a number of groups who are convinced this is a dangerous folly that will put their members at risk, have applied for a judicial review. The plan was recently tweaked to address concerns about the road's safety, but campaigners remain unconvinced.
