Footballer Charged With Assaulting Sister

The strange tale of West Ham midfielder Calum Davenport, who ended up in intensive care after being stabbed in both legs while at his mother's house in August, has taken another hairpin twist: the player has been charged with assaulting his sister, Cara, during the incident. He is expected to appear in front of Bedford magistrates next month. Ms Davenport's boyfriend, Worrell Whitehurst, has already fetched up at court, charged with the original assault on Calum and his mother. The player, who is on the mend, is keeping shtum about proceedings but says he will plead not guilty. It's fair to say that Christmas chez Davenport this year will make the festive EastEnders drama seem like a weekend with the Waltons.
