It's a quiz, in a bar, with prizes!
We can't claim to be the first to come up with that concept. But, by the spectacles of Bob Holness, we're going to use the opportunity to fact you till you fart.
There'll be music, film, history, pictures, good old random trivia, maps and, oh all kinds of quizzical diversions. Every question will be about this fine old city of ours. So if you think you can out-nerd the Londonist team when it comes to London trivia, come and have a go. The evening will be compered by Mr Charles Dickens himself and is supported by the folks from the London Word Festival. Because it's a quiz, we now present the key details through the medium of questions:
Where is it?: Ray's Jazz Cafe, First Floor at Foyles, 113-119 Charing Cross Road.
And when?: 1 October, 7pm start.
So when, would you say, should we turn up?: Ooo, maybe about 6.40ish. We need to vacate the room at 9pm, so it'd be good to get everyone cosy before a 7pm start.
Do we have to pay?: Yes. £2 per person, but all proceeds will go to our favourite charity, the London Air Ambulance.
What can we win? Not sure yet, but we'll cobble something interesting and Londony together. We'll also present a customised blue plaque to the winning team.
How big can teams be? Up to five people. Guide dogs count as half a person.
How do we enter? Please email in advance (londonist - at - gmail.com) to book for your team. We don't need all their names, but please let us know the number of people.
So, like, how hard will the questions be? We'll try and pitch it so that anyone with a little curiosity about the city should be able to notch up a few points. But there should be a broad spectrum - some questions will be as simple as a lobotomised pigeon, others as tough as a cybernetic beefeater.
