Muswell Hill Blocks BT Broadband

Muswell_Hill_Broadway.jpg Muswell Hill's provided more ammunition for it being voted the most NIMBYish place in London / the UK / world after a resident's association stopped BT installing cabinets for its fibre optic super fast broadband trial. The 1.8m tall units are "unsightly and are taller than most garden walls", and apparently block the pavements for the thousands of buggies in this nappy valley. But other denizens of the Kings Avenue conservation area are miffed that they're missing out on a free internet upgrade. BT insist they'll be back; they may need to prepare to brave a running battle between pitchfork-and-flaming-torch wielding conservators and affronted internet nerds. (Image / satguru)

Not quite right, most of the new cabinets in the muswell hill area were installed, except for a small more select group of housing, this is where the blockage came in and currently Openreach are in talks with the council to come to come okay over this.

Apart from this NGA is working fine in muswell hill.

RachelH - yep, seems just one resident put their foot down and got the council to stop a motion for the installation of the cabinet that would serve the area.

I take it that this one person doesn't have a computer or have need for 40Mb broadband? Or maybe doesn't even know what the cabinet was for, just NIMBY??
